Oral Appliance Therapy

Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) is effective for most patients with a diagnosis of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. OAT is also effective treating snoring and often used in conjuction with CPAP in patients with very severe obstructive sleep apnea.

There are dozens of designs for these appliances but they all attempt to do the same thing: keep the airway open while patients sleep. Typically an oral appliance is designed with elements to keep the lower jaw and tongue from collapsing back and closing the airway. Most patients find the appliance very comfortable.

Because each patient is unique, we will  take time to explain the appliance and determine which will be the best match.
